Tecate Mexican Grill in Hendersonville

The food was great but customer service was terrible. We asked the waitresses for a few minutes before we ordered. 20 minutes passed and I had to go say something for someone to come take our order. It wouldn't have been so bad if we had been brought our chips and dip. Plus we were out of drinks.

It's an okay spot since really just your typical Mexican restaurant. Nothing special. Plus they were only taking cash at this time which we did not know before we got there amd it was pretty late. All I had was $20 so we can did not even get to try much.

Best Mexican restaurant I've ever been hands down. Sure the building is ugly as anything but trust me once you're there you're hooked.

Just plain good every time! Their bowl of chicken soup is a must have when allergies find you a bit under the weather. They do have a lunch menu. Many of the local law enforcement officers and firefighters dine in. Look for the bright yellow building with parking on three sides.

Took my Mom and youngest daughter there. We were the ONLY customers in the restaurant. It took them 20mins to come take our order ONLY because I attempted to walk out! The two ladies tending the dining room were VERY rude!! Don’t think I’ll EVER go back! Oh a couple walked in and they were very attentive to them!! Very disappointed!

I had the grilled shrimp served with creamed spinach, rice and guacamole salad. The shrimp were cooked perfectly. There was almost a cheese sauce overload but hey, gonna chalk this up as a comfort food day. Very filling. The hubby had the grilled shrimp with mushrooms over rice. The shrimp were large. We didn't notice a lunch menu, which may explain the huge portions. Tecate must be popular with Hendersonville's finest (sheriff's dept) as there were several in that afternoon who knew the staff. The bathrooms were clean as was the restaurant. The reason for a 4 star - the restaurant needs updating.

Food is consistently good. For a whole 30 diet.. Fajita's are the best.

We took our left overs to go and asked for a small cup for some salsa at the salsa bar. The waitress said they don’t have small cups for the salsa. When we went up to pay, there were 2 small cups sitting there WITH salsa for a to go order. We asked the waitress if those were for us! Nope. Don’t lie to me. Just tell me you don’t allow salsa to go for orders in!Will not return.

Sunday we arrived with a small group from church. After being seated, we were ignored by the wait staff. They flew around our table serving others. We saw one small table have three different servers and at one time we observed three servers huddled in conversation. After 20 minutes we finally had someone take our order for drinks. Then it took another 30 minutes for someone to come and take our order. When we inquired about our meal we got a passing comment while that server went to the kitchen .Five minutes later a child of about 10 or 11 years of age came to our table and told us "we could wait or leave." Not only were we ignored for the most of the time but when they did want to speak they sent a child do the talking not being brave enough to have an adult do so. We have never been so insulted. In total we were thete two hours. Go here if you want to wait and be insukted.

We like Tecate, as the food is authentic. The menu is extensive so you can come back to try new things. The service is not always quick, but courteous so don't be discouraged about coming in. The food taste and portions will more than make up for any wait time. Enjoy!!!

Attempted to eat there. Seated immediately, 45 minutes later still hadn't got to order. During that time spoke with Mgmt twice with no assistance. We left. Too many other choices to put up with NO service.

My favorite Mexican restaurant in the area. The food is very good. I totally recommend it.

I have never been treated rudely here, as some customers apparently have. The servers have kindly put up with my attempts to speak Spanish, and our food has been delicious, every time.

I don’t recommend going there they are very rude. The Mexican lady’s with no neck give you an ugly face for no apparent reason it disgusts me. They made me wait an hour and a half for my food to finish and there was only one other person in the restaurant I can only imagine they were slacking off. The man that is built like 🗿 makes me very uncomfortable constantly flirting. Thank you for your time.

This is one of the best places in North Carolina! I could eat their food every night for dinner! The restaurant is extremely clean and smells heavenly! The service is outstanding and they are very hardworking. The menu is large so you will definitely find something delicious! I highly recommend to go to this restaurant, and I cannot wait to go again!

It was good but kind of high

Waited 45 mins to get a drink order at our table of just 3 people. Total amount of time spent there was over an hour and a half. Food was horrible. This place used to be our favorite restaurant. It's really went down hill. Also, they weren't even busy. 5 tables of people in the whole restaurant. Very very disappointed!

We always enjoy going to Tecate. The people are very friendly and helpful, the food is quickly and well prepared. Generous servings leave you feeling fully satisfied with the experience. Well worth checking out.

Absolutely some of the best Mexican food I’ve ever had. Portions were HUGE (my sister and I split this and had leftovers) and the food was incredible (and quite affordable). Drove 30+ minutes just for dinner here and it didn’t disappoint.

This is fresh, authentic Mexican! I've been looking for a new Mexican restaurant since moving to the area. This is my place! Affordable, great service, phenomenal food. The restaurant is exceptionally clean. Highly recommend!

Food was good but service was slow and not friendly. We were treated like we an inconvenience. We were a party of 7 and when we received the bill we noticed that a couple of the meals were charged incorrectly. When we went to pay and explain the discrepancy, the person at the register pulled out another copy of our bill (same customer number and everything), that was was exactly correct. Seems very likely that their register till comes up over each day and they get to take home a good chunk of change, free and clear. Throw away the copy you provided to the customer, keep the "extra" one behind the counter for your records and there you go... Slimy way to make a buck... Will NOT be going back.

Very expensive and had no thousand island dressing. Only two kinds available..so I made my own..service was awful

I was riding by, spotted the parking lot full of work trucks and sheriff's cars, and it was a great choice. Loved the food, the staff were nice.

Fast service. Food had lots of flavor! Loved the grilled vegetables I was able to substitute for rice and beans. Not always a strong suit for Mexican restaurants, but here they were very good! Was easily able to keto off menu. Definitely returning.

The service was slow. We ordered and then 15 minutes later they came back to tell me they didn't have what I ordered. I finally got a chicken taco salad. It was almost not edible. It w watery and consisted of refried bean, lettuce and a chunk of cold, overcooked chicken. My friend burrito was the size of a pen. So small and tasted terrible. Won't be back.

The 3 stars I gave are only because the food. I don't mind to drive 45 minute from my house in South Carolina to Hendersonville NC because the food worth it ¡delicious ! But the staff are very RUDE in special one of thre waiters, they don't give you salsa o water to go, you have to pay for. Really? water is free at all restaurants even to go? We payed $150.00 for dinner and my husband didn't deserve a cup of water to go? Really? Only water in bottle and of course you have to pay it by separate. HORRIBLE STAFF.

Nice service and food was not bad with no spice which is the reason for 3 stars, salsa was nothing special. Food portion is more than one person can eat. I was travel through and I came hear bc of other google reviews but was nothing to rave about.

Our first and most likely last visit. Interior was cold and uninviting and in need of a makeover. The first person to wait on us could not understand nor speak English. I had to ask for tortillas that were not served with the meal as they should have. Nobody came to our table to inquire if everything was okay and if we wanted anything else. The food was good but the atmosphere and service was terrible! Too many other places to spend our $$$ in the future.

Very delicious fajitas. Food was nice and hot, tea was NOT watered down or over/undersweetened, waiters were very polite. Not very busy so it made for a nice quiet lunch. I will eat here again any day
